2 for the price of 2
2 weeks ago, 200m from Camp, my exhaust pipe finally came off (thankfully we'd just pulled onto the small road towards camp). i'd been waiting for it to drop off since winter, so it did well to hang on this long! after a quick check under the car, the obvious was diagnosed: cornflakes cannot be glued back together! (the rust had gotten to most of the rear, so even if i managed to stick the muffler back on, there was no where to stick to!) thankfully the FIAT i have has a 2 piece exhaust, so it only costs 120 euro instead of 1000 to buy a new one...
having recently fixed Candide's Clio (thanks to my father-in-law's amazing skills!), we were driving to Church when "ROOWAAAR". we were only a few minutes away from Church but pulled over to check it out. the exhaust pipe had broken in 2 and was dangling dangerously under the car. 10 minutes later we hopped back in and drove to Church, having been able to tie it up with a strap (and it held all the way back home!). thankfully this one was fixable, so i spent my sunday afternoon at camp cutting and grinding steel pipe and gluing the thing back together with steel-lined-epoxy-type-goop. it runs smooth and silently now (well, for an old car)! so i guess it worked out t o be 2 for the price of one... did i mention RC's exhaust came off a week before mine?
