Long time no see

“if you’re too busy, you’re too busy”. While I love and agree 100% with this saying, I realise that I find it hard to say no and to know where my boundaries (in terms of time management and being at 3 places at once amongst other things) are not very good.

So I’ve gone and over-booked, over-worked and over-exerted myself again. Result: cold and a sore throat that makes me sound like the godfather. Here’s a sample of the things that have been happening since my last post:

µ               Handball has started back up, so I’m now training and coaching again, which is great and fun!

µ               Youth group has started back up again, so I’m “co-leading” with my lovely Candide and other people, which is great and tiring…

µ               I’m currently doing a climbing instructor course, which has been fantastic! I have another 24 or so hours left (over the next 2 days). The stuff I’ve learnt has been amazing and scary (finding out you’ve been doing something the wrong way for a while…).

µ               Oh and I had to do a first aid course to do the climbing course. That was a great (long) day as well. Very worthwhile, I recommend it!

Apart from that I’m getting up to speed on how maintenance goes round here, as our guru is leaving for a year, so I’m “taking his place” (or trying to keep the ship afloat while he’s gone). So much to know…so much to do!..

Holy days? I think not…

So I’ve been on holidays (well, not “at work”) up in the town I grew up in, catching up with old friends.

Since I’ve been here my timetable has been drastically changed and I’ve realised a few things (which I kinda knew already):

1)     I hate cigarette smoke and cigarettes (and other smokeable devices)

2)     I don’t enjoy sitting around doing nothing and prefer doing ANYHTHING outside than nothing inside

3)     I don’t enjoy sitting around until 2am (doing nothing) and then sleeping in ‘til 10am (which is earlier than others get up)

4)     I don’t like endless complaining about things, which can’t be changed (the weather for example)

5)     TV and internet watching do not generate good conversation.

Apart from that it’s been great to see some old friends and hang out and see what they’re up to, especially when I haven’t seen them for so long (some of them years). It was kinda cool to drive/ride around my old stomping grounds too.
