...i knew it would be hard, but picture this: it's 2am, you're asleep in a warm down bag, dry, peaceful and dazed, when you're told to get up cause it's your turn...so you have to get up, put your dirty, wet, freezing bike gear on, strap on your lights, and hop on the seat (which is more painful than ever now your butt is kinda raw...) to ride for 2 hours...
that was the sydney 24hr mtb event which i did last week-end, 12:30pm sat to 12:30pm sun, team of 3, 110kms, laps of 30-45mins, grueling 10km track, sooooooooooooooo painful but worth doing! in hind sight (it's a great thing says charlie always!) i can't wait til the next one!
so we got 3rd and won heaps of neat gear! the guy who won solo did 35 laps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the 2nd only spent 16mins off his bike in 24hrs!!! there's levels...
for photos, type in 24 hr mtb in the category and then my name here.
bring it on!! :)

woohoo! we now have da web at home!! weekly updates (or more often) comin yer way... :)

just a quickie to say i miss you guys over in the northern hemisphere, i hope to be over in july while working at the "camp of the peaks" in the french alps. i'm thankful for such great friends and hang onto the many superb memories and photos...
on other news (not very interesting...) while some guys in BRAZIL (congrats GT!!!) are gettin married, others have become real friendly with friends, leading to deeper type relationships....ie... i now have a girlfriend! yes that's right, her name is heather, and she is fantastic! she's been a total Godsent to me and it turns out (while we were discussing a potential more intimate friendship) i was an answer to her prayers as well. so there you go. she's been helping me get my fitness up (which has paid off on da bike) through running (heather's an amazing runner), which i've been doing every week with her at the track. at this stage i'me getting a PB everytime, but it's getting harder and as i get fitter i assume my times will be closer together and harder to drop time off...
TEAM ESPY!!!
so i entered an endurance mtb event last month. i was riding with a bloke i've only met twice and ridden with as many times. we were in a 2 man team competing for fun. we had 8 hours to do as many laps as possible (6 mile laps) round a grueling bumpy forest course, lap for lap (about 28-35min per lap depending on yer fitness). so half way through the day we looked at the tally and we were 3rd, we kept it up and in the end came second!!!!!! just behind 2 of aussie's best riders and in fron of another sponsored team. bring it on!! i even won a $100 camelback. so there you go, there's another one comin up (on my home turf) which will be a challenge! i raced under team espy (thanks tim!) for a joke and twas weird seeing ESPY-2nd on the score board. results are up on www.workingweekseries.com and photos should be here. there are also a couplke of 24 hr events coming up, BRING IT ON!!
