We took some of our youth group guys to see Matrix relaoded and yes, that scene was a lot too much for us all. I had to cover John's eyes (Lucas).
To clarify a comment made by Weeks on his scotland trip, the Mcpherson clan did show up at the Battle of Falkirk because they wussed out. I believe this is where Dorge and Weeks both get their severe lack of backbone from.

raunch-o-rama
i thought the matrix was a classy show. certainly back when it came out it was ground (and mind!!) breaking stuff.
the second one was still great, with more fight scenes, camera angles, tricks, animation and "bullet time" photography than ever before. but why, WHY did they include 5 minutes of sex and raunchy dancing?
was the sex to show their intimacy? was it to show they were "in touch" both mentally and physically, was it to show that they felt what the other was feeling? dunno. in any case they could've done things a lot more implicitly, cut out 3 minutes of dragged-out-uselesness and kept it classy.
while the dancing was pretty cool, it very quickly turned into a very raunchy scene as well. once again in my opinion cutting this scene down would not have been detrimental, in fact it would've made the sequel much more enjoyable.
still, bring on "revolutions" in november i think?

i was in scotland for a few days last week.
originally i had intended on going for 7-8 days, but i was at work and couldn't. so i went for 5...
i bought a freedom of scotland travel pass (train, bus and ferry pass) usable for 4 out of 8 days. perfect.
after an early boat out of belfast followed by a bus to glasgow, i got the train to aberdeen. a beautiful trip, with many coastal golf courses. i can see why you'd wanna "spoil a good walk"(Churchill) if you could play on these. got to aberdeen and walked to a friend's house, which was in walking distance from the station. no map, got lost, but i didn't know and got here anyway!
stayed the night (luckily there was someone there and she got back at 9pm) and had some good chats. the next morning i caught he train to inverness, where some of my ancestors are from (the McPhersons, the only clan who survived a certain battle cause they wussed out, ran away and hid...). got soaked in a very heavy down poor, then got the bus to fort william via Loch Ness. i walked up to the start of Glen Nevis, along the waters of Nevis, put up the tent, cooked some chicken and tuna pasta and read a bit of the voyage of the dawn treader. Ben Nevis, just above, wasn't visible due to mist. i felt very lonely, far from home, friends and family, not wanting to be there. so i decided to head home on thursday instead of friday.
the next morning i felt much better, twas still kinda rainy (drizzle) but everything was beautiful and clousy with occasional sun shining through (and rain). got up, had some brekky and headed off for glen coe. i started walking up Ben nevisbut turned off cause there was no sign of any clearing and you couldn't even see half way. next time! in any case i didn't really feel like going up.
got to the station 10mins too late and missed the bus, soi got thetrain to Mallaig. what a trip!! superb!! beautiful!! a must do!! mountains, hills, forests, rivers, lakes, lochs, the sea, islands, cliffs... Mallaig is at the end of the line and from there i caught the ferry to Armadaile on the isle of skye. i set foot on it (next time i'll try to see some of it!!) then back onto the ferry to mallaig and back on the train to fort william. i waited for t he bus for glencoe but when it came i was told the pass wouldn't work for that trip. BLAST!!! so i got the train for Glasgow instead. i decided i'd see glencoe the next time as well, though that was one of the main reason for me going to scotland in the first place!
i was planning to get off the train somewhere along the line and camp the night, getting back on the train in the morning (instead of getting into glasgow late that night). the trip from fort william is magnificent and soooooo worth it! i settled for Rannoch, a station in the middleof rannoch moor, a plain of moorland that took about 1-2 hours to cross in the train! wow, such a beautiful place, but sooooo remote. it felt like a scene out of Willow or Lord of the rings, completely desolate. no one around with hills in the distance (glencoe). i put up the tent, got some water to boil to cook with and to drink. had some supper and spent some time looking at the scenery. wow. an excellent place to get solitude.
hopped on the train the next morning to Glasgow, then another train to Stranraer where i got the ferry home.
a great time to spend soul-searching, talking to God and in solitude. but it got very lonely. i hope to be able to return some day with someone else, any takers?

so i was at work the other night, writing up the books, at about 10:45pm and i needed a pen (to...huh...write the books). i knew there was one in the drawer so i searched around in it with my hand. i felt something kinda tickly or prickly, felt kinda funny for a second or two. but then it hurt, a lot...i had just been pressing down on a razor blade. ouch, the thought of it, so sharp i didn't feel it till it cut deeply through flesh. ahhhhhh, it put my teeth on edge! blood was seeping out so i grabbed the medical keys and went to stich (ok, ok, wasn't that bad!), put a plaster (or band-aid for people in the southern hemisphere) on it and desinfect it (not in that order). i couldn't believe how much it blead!! lesson: don't serach blindly in drawers where sharp things may be hidden or hiding!

What a dog!! I just wrote a huge message and then lost the entire thing. Think what a waste of time and money for BHP. Well I suppose if they gave a crap they might give me something else to do, but they haven't.
Since I am not going to write the entire thing again, I will leave this quote;
"A little philosophy leads to athiesm, but a depth in philosophy leads to God" (Francis Bacon)
Here at work I am surrounded by those with little philosophy. Pray that when the time comes we will all be able to speak the words of reason to those around us and bring glory to our Father in Heaven.

here's a verse i found this morn on the bog that i find pretty cool:
(it's comparing Christ to angels, saying how superior he is)
"Angels are but ministering spirits sent to help and serve those who are going to be saved" hebrews 1:14.
not bad huh??

Hello, Baker is now at the Birm!!!
I have little to say now, except that I am at work and I have the go deal with some chemicals that have been bad and need disipline. I shall think of something creative to say later. But it is good to finally be writing here.

don't read this if you want something fun and light hearted.
did you know you can't convict someone of rape in northern ireland if they're under 14 years old? instead it's sexual assault, which is the same as touching someone indecently, against their will.
obviously when you're under 14, including 13 and 364 days, you may not have the full concept of what rape is. So you may be glad, years down the road, that you're not a convicted rapist and on the "list". but what about for the person who got raped? is it going to make them feel any better? does it matter what age THEY were? does that mean that we tell them it wasn't rape?
seems pretty stupid to me.
so how do you love rapists, or should i say "sexual assaulters"? i guess the only way is to think of what they went through when they were young to have such warped ideas and actions. is it an excuse? absolutely not, but it is certainly an explanation...

wind...
blows in my face
slows down my pace
turns rain to blades
puts time to shame
and makes riding a pain
...but i still love it :)

http://www.word2word.com/free.html...a free online translation page...for those of you who may be travelling places...

Snooker!
had a few games last night with mr nixon after some carbonara pasta. smokes it shows your flaws! i the 3rd i must've given him 25 points!
in pool you can never go too soft...well in snooker i think you're better off going too hard. i set him up (an inch from the pocket) half a dozen times!
good fun though.

temptation
Jesus was tempted, probably beyond what we are, yet he never gave into it. "but he was God", well yes, but he was still fully human. maybe that's something i can think about next time temptation knocks on my door...

cause i thought i was in top shape i thought i'd ride the antrim coast road with tim... 68 miles.
the first 40-50 were a breeze, but the last 15-20 were painful! i wanted to but my body didn't. i still rode it but couldn't keep up with mr fit: tim.
i guess if we'd taken it easier instead of cranking it for 4h45 i would've been fine.
a must do if you haven't though! train up to portrush and follow the dramatic coastline to larne.
