So I was lying in the chair and he pulls out a HUGE needle which he thrusts into my gums…aouahh… and then it was fast small drill time (the one that spurts water and they have to put the sucker in yer mouth to suck up the water and spit)….but worse of all was the low speed grinding vibrating thing. Uuuuyyuck! My whole head was vibrating, I was sweating and it felt soooooo bad, not so much the teeth cause they were numb, but my whole mouth and head. Anyway a while later I got some stuff in my eye so I closed it. The next thing you know I’m asleep. It was pretty comfortable and I was relaxed most of the time… I used to like going to the dentist! Yuk! Not any more!!!

Yarramundi 8 hr.

Race 4 of the series.

Tough state and national track, very grueling, rough, testing, steep, rocky, technical, well built mostly single track.

Cause we’d come from straight from climbing the day before we were a little tender (especially my arms…) but the race would soon take over and bring new pains…

I got off to a good run start with only 3 or 4 pros in front of me once I got on the bike and passed a few slow riders. Then came the first climb. I was stuffed with 9kms to go!

32 mins later I came in about 10th to see adam in the hammock…

“oh so I’m doing 2 laps” I called out stuffed. He smiled and just said “I guess so”.

 “punk!”, I yelled back, Smiling

We kept our times fairly consistent, coming in at 6th in our category by about 6 minutes after 8 and a half hours.

What a fun (and very hard) track! A superb day. Well done adam,

Go cranky Bros!!

So I hopped in the van, drove to Brooklyn, put the sea kayak in the water, paddled east for 20 mins and docked at eagle rock, a huge 80m cavernous rock formation stretching skywards above the water. Adam, Jason and andi were climbing some hard stuff.

I started with a sweet exposed grade 16 (my level) with turquoise estuary, blue sky and sun as a backdrop. We hung out a bit, did a 21 (my first ever outdoors!!!! And maybe even in-doors), had some lunch and abseiled (rappelled) down onto the beak of eagle rock, about 30 or 40 m above the water (hard to say, I was standing on a piece of rock the size of a coin with nothing but air and swinging rope underneath…). Exposure!!!! I belayed adam up the nice grade 16 slab then followed up. Wow, what a nice climb. So much exposure, windy, sunny, grippy rock… as it was a slab at times the only “holds” for my hands were having them flat on the rock (spiderman style!). unreal.

I scrambled back down, got in the kayak and was back at the van 20 min later. Awesome!

What is it with strings, minor chords, emotional music and
nostalgia? I have my puda playin music on random and it?s just
chucked some emotional Moby at me.
The wind is howling, the sun setting, I just said good-bye to
my parents who are heading back up the coast and I?m left alone with
marking to do. And suddenly I?m reminiscing about France, Norn Iron
and friends there. I?m feeling quite nostalgic (a happy word for
sad?) and suddenly wanting to email, no, chat to, no, phone all my
friends in distant places. All I want to do is hop on a plane that
will take me into the setting sun across the sea to the emerald isle
or the French alps?
still wondering whether to go to France (to live/work) or
not it?s moments like these that make me want to be there. The
thought of the summer camps going ahead and all those French kids,
all the beauty and all the good times?and after listening to
Coldplay?s new twist
ed logic it?s onto Ben Folds 5 brick?is my party
shuffle set to nostalgic-sun-setting-reflective-memory-moods or
what??? I also realise that seeing Le tour de France daily on TV
(especially when stage 3 or 4 went past the region I grew up in?)
has reignited my fire for that country?are you joking me?? i-tunes
has just decided to play What if I do? one of the new acoustic
tracks on FF?s In Your Honor?unbelievable! By the way I totally
recommend this album, the rocky stuff is pretty cool but the
acoustic/ballady songs are incredible! So much passion and emotion
has gone into them?and that track Dave Grohl sings with Nora Jones
is just delightful?plus it?s a good one to play on the ol? guitar..
so anyway I?m lovin? this moment of solitude, even if it
feels a little lonely right now, I hold onto it knowing that with
school going back soon and all I won?t be getting many opportunities
for such blessed tim
es?as I sign off psalm 67 just came on (may the
peoples praise you) off Sons of Korah?s new album Resurrection,
which is breathtaking! For those of you who live outside Australia
you don?t know what you?re missing?and if you wanna know, simply
click on the link at the top left of this page, which will take you
to their site where you can hear what you?re missing?
love and peace to all, until we meet again?
