Once a lifetime opportunities/when blessings go beyond words/do coincidences really exist???
Being tired from working on the mountain, I had planned on sleeping in and doing nothing today (on my day off). BUT, the “coincidence” of 40cm of fresh, sun predicted, fat skis borrowed and the day being Saturday (the day holiday-makers leave/get to the resort = not many people on the slopes), meant that sleeping in could wait…
Working 6-2 means that you work 6 days, then have 2 off. Being able to ski an average of 1-3 hours a day for my job means that I don’t long to hit the slopes when I’m off. Add the bad weather, crowds, or no fresh snow factor, and suddenly other things (bed, computer, books, guitar, board games, pizza…) become much more appealing.
Having blue skies after a snow storm on a day off is very rare, but having these 2 things on a Saturday is a once a season opportunity…which got me thinking: the 2 hours I spent tracing S lines in knee-deep virgin snow on such a crisp, beautiful day with a pair of borrowed Navis 186cm with 103mm underfoot will probably NEVER, ever happen to me again…
