“It’s straight ahead but it’s a bit far on a bike…”
Like most crazy ideas, this one appeared out of nowhere when a few different elements came together: it was the end of work camp, Steve was house-sitting a sweet pad, I hadn’t ridden for a while and I didn’t want to face the hours riding public transport to get there. And so it was decided. I left camp at 2pm on Friday and after a few hours I wondered if it had been a good idea… but after 4 and a half hours I eventually got to Chambery, a sweet little city about 115km away from camp. I asked for directions to the suburb Steve was in and that’s when I was told that it was “a bit far on a bike”. I smiled and thanked the lad for the directions (I didn’t say where I’d come from and knowing the suburb was only a couple of kms away, I assumed I would be ok!).
Well I eventually found the place (took me almost an hour extra!) despite having the wrong address written down…But God is good and just as I was praying that I’d find it, RC popped hi head out the garage door of the house I was riding past! The hot shower, BBQ, cold drinks and soft bed were most welcome!
After a superb brekkie cooked by Caleb I hit the road again (hopping back on the seat was pretty painful!). 5 hours later I arrived back at camp…trashed. Thankfully I had the wind in my back for most of the return trip, which made the last two hours of uphill much more bearable!
I'll say it again... you are a machine!
Its good to hear that you are still getting to do the things that you love.
Take care and God bless.
Cam
P.S. Its nice to hear about all of the wonderful things that you are up to.
