Pressure !

Well we’re in the middle of work camp, here at Camp of the Peaks. Work camp is always a great time and a great camp. The business of the English camps is over, the days are cooling off and about 20 of us (staff and usually older campers who have been coming to CDC for years) work on a variety of building projects (usually building/rebuilding walls, stairs…). We work together, take turns to cook, wash up and clean and have great sharing times in the evenings.

Well this year we have a few projects going, as there’s a heap of us. As always seemingly “small” projects turn into epics (“oops, looks like that tree will have to go, as the roots are the cause of the break in the wall…” or “we were about to patch up the wall but noticed that the rest of it was about to crumble, so we had to rebuild most of it…”). So this year I’m actually “in charge” of a site, building a small wall near the basketball court, which will a) be an area to sit and chat, b) prevent balls from going down the hill and c) make the area look a bit prettier. The thing is, I’ve never been in charge of building a wall B4, which is a bit stressful! Anyway, so far it’s looking ok, most rocks are facing the right way, angled the right way and sort of lined up… we’ll see what happens!

Nice
Good walls make good neighbours.. and ball stops.

Nice work Dan...... you just have to remember the old Time, Cost, Quality triangle.... you can only have two of them...... so just tell anyone with concerns that you are on time and budget ;)
