many times
Caleb wanted to go to the museum Sunday after Church, so we (Marc, Gwen and I) thought we might join him. after some lunch at Flunch (believe it or not it's cheap, good and plentiful), we headed into G-town and went to the Musee de Grenoble. like all art museums it had...art. as always with art, i find some pieces fascinating and others boring or useless. and i guess that's what art is about, stirring up emotion, feeling or reaction in people.
the artist on display at the moment is Juan Munoz. some of his sketches and studies are amazing. he has so much "authority" in the way he draws and seems to represent things in a lively and accurate way (even the abstract stuff). the piece that really blew me away was many times, a collection of 100 Chinese looking sculpted figures, all slightly shorter than an average person, all with the same expression (smiling/laughing) and all without feet. while all the faces were made using the same mold, none look identical. walking through this display is amazing. at first you can't help but smiling and being happy, but then it feels kinda weird, like they were all looking at you/laughing at you...

Comments:
the last time i ran into a bunch of china men in a museum they were all dead and had no skin on. it was at an exhibition in new york called 'bodies'. it also drew out some interesting emotions.

hum...noice. you remember who the artist was?
