Salt anyone?!

My head, helmet and hydration pack were all white with salt when I finished the inaugural 100km Highland Fling yesterday. It was pretty hot and sweaty, though there was a nice breeze blowing most of the time. The race was set in the beautiful Southern Highlands, 2hrs drive south of Sydney (very beautiful and not too dissimilar to some areas of Scotland, France or Ireland, hence the name of the event, the amount of people wearing kilts and a lot of Scottish names and shops). The course was gruelling and I was ready to give up at the 50km mark. My left knee was giving me grief and I kept starting to cramp up.

In the end I finished (yeah!) 4th or 5th in the open men category in about 5hrs 20minutes. Jas came first in the same category (hardcore punk!), half an hour ahead of me. will I do it again?.. hum…not at this stage, but ask me again in a few days!
