Another year another 24hr race…
In a few words: sore legs, blood-shot eyes, general tiredness and a ton of dirty clothes.
The track was fantastic, almost 20kms of 50% fire road 50% single track. A couple of hills, some great windy up and down single track (pine forest) and no real technical sections (but a lot of roots, trees, rocks, and mud holes…). it got down to 5 degrees and rained at night…Oh it was cold waiting in transition for my team mates! (so hard to get onto the bike at 2am in the cold, wet, mud and dark!) I was in a mixed 4 team “all day breakfast” and came 7th I think (behind adam’s mixed 4 team. Well done you punks!). a great race! 2600 riders, 600 on the track at one time (including the 800m run dash-for-cash start). I wussed out and let my team member do the last lap (it was her turn but we could’ve beaten adam’s team if I’d gone…but I was too wrecked and lazy!). loved it!
Next long race, the 100km “highland fling” in November…
