2 out of 4... a + or - score??
after reading the devil and miss prim and the alchemist by Paulo Coelho, i would have said that he was one of my favourite authors. However, having just read by the river piedra i sat down and wept and veronica decides to die, which i must say were the worst 2 books i have ever read (mainly due to some pretty explicit descrptions i wish had never entered my mind), i dunno anymore... i don't think i'll bother getting anymore of his books unless someone strongly recommends one. was he totally drugged out when he wrote these or what? i must say i'm disapointed.

Comments:
bulahdelah - haha! sounds like someone couldn't be arsed thinking of a good name for that town and just called it blah-de-lah but spelt differently!

well em i'll have you know it means "the meeting of 2 rivers at the foot of a mountain" in the local Aboriginal laguage...it does sound failry random tho... especially cause it's supposedly pronounced "bla-d'la"

i know totally what you mean about Paulo Coelho - I loved the Alchemist and The Devil and Miss Prym and one other I can't quite remeber the name of but the rest I have tried to read have been really tough going! Like the Pilgrimage or Warrior of Light. It's like he is 2 different people - so poetic on one hand and just trying to be surreal on the other.
