a superb talk by Gordon M on sunday morn about the Holy Spirit. really challenging and one to chew on. basically about the role and place of the Holy Spirit, especially in our lives. some things which hit home for me:
-there is no hierarchy in the trinity
-the Holy Spirit is a person-type-figure, on equal grounds with God the Father and God the Son, as e Spirit is God as well!
-The Holy Spirit is "God in us", 24/7, whether we please him or make him angry or grieve.
the weird thing is (especially after home group where we talked at length about a lot of these things) after being reminded that the Spirit was "God in me", i go away and totally ignore the fact that He is with me and go on sinning like he was in another country.
it's crazy! in hinsight, that's exactly how we make the Holy Spirit grieve, when we know he's there, with us, IN US, and we still ignore or turn our backs on him and sin.
thankfully though because of God(the father)'s love and God(the son)'s sacrifice, we can have an everlasting relationship with all 3 (being ONE). wow, i think i really need to go and reflect on that...
