so i was out riding with niall whowas showing me some trails and jumps near shaw's bridge (spelling may not be accurate) and mary peter's running track. some short trails and majassive jumps(for the no fear EXPERIENCED and skillfull rider). then went onto other smaller more achievable ones. did a couple of em and were going to do a slightly bigger one (or less small for all you extreme riders). i was following niall when i saw him hit it, lean forward and totally slam himself on the ground face first, over his bars, him landing in aheap on the ground and his (beaut) bike up against a tree. smokes!!, talk about a stack!! so i rush over to see how he was. bilke was fine but niall was a little groggy, lying on his back and feeling sick, he was fairly white. his face was slightly grazed (due to the carpet-style pine needle-dirt-mixed ground). he'd also hit his leg, elbow and shoulder which were also a little dirty.
he kept on repeating "i grazed my face", "i must be slightly concussed" and "i hurt my elbow" in between bursts of "so what happened?".
at first i thought twas just a little shock, but after about 10 minutes of constantly repeating himself (and not remembering anything) i soon realised that he probably had knocked his head pretty bad and that he'd obviously got a mild concussion. so i kept talking to him and asking him questions waiting for him to get better. when he didn't i decided we'd better go seek some treatment. so we rode slowly (he could balance and ride fine) back to stranmillis along the toe path.
his memory was slowly returning but he still didn't remember hitting the jump!
we rode back to his place and he was fine, so i bolted, telling him to ring me later.
outcome: a chipped bone in da elbow.
talk about scary stuff!! i didn't know what to do or not to do!! twas real weird. i'm just thankful twasn't worse cause we were some distance from help!
i recommend you read niall's version of the facts (if he's written one). just click on the link on the side bar.
